FAQ

I Have Been Seeing a Chiropractor regularly and just moved to town. Do you require x-rays?

No, x-rays are not required. But images can be a most important link to understanding your condition. You may have images done else where and we can use those for evaluation provided they are recent.

Can I benefit Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic treatment is suitable for almost everyone. There is no pressure to get treatment or sign up for an extensive (expensive) treatment plan. If accepted, once you are better, as are 96% of those accepted as patients, continuing treatment is on an as needed basis based upon your needs.

Why might I need Chiropractic Care?

Spinal impairments occur by the following: improper lifting, sleep habits, desk/computer positioning, and automobile accidents, work-related accidents, slips/falls, stress, muscle tension, etc. Your genetic bone structure can also make you more susceptible to spinal impairments.

What Is An Adjustment and Why is it needed?

A chiropractic adjustment is the art of using a specific force applied either manually or by an instrument applied to a joint that is not moving properly. Joints that are not moving properly can cause compression on spinal nerves causing symptoms to appear throughout the body. Adjustments help restore proper function to the joints that are not performing normally. Joints that do not move enough force other joints to move too much. An adjustment adds motion to a joint, helping the bones to gradually return to a more normal motion.

How Long Will My Treatment Last

You are the captain of your own ship. We can make recommendations, but you are the ultimate decider of when and what treatment you receive.

Can Chiropractic Treatment Help Lower Back Pain, Neck Pain, Headaches or other joint pains?

Yes. Research has shown that Chiropractic care is safe and effective in treating lower back pain, especially pain caused by a spinal misalignment, sprain or strain. Many disc disorders can be helped with Chiropractic spinal adjustments. Nieman Chiropractic Clinic utilizes a very safe and effective adjusting technique for patients with lower back pain.

Chiropractic treatment has long been known by patients and providers to be effective in treating headaches and neck pain. Research is showing that when these pains are caused by stress, tension, repetitive strain, spinal misalignments or a loss of normal spinal curvature in the neck. These conditions can be caused from sudden trauma or improper posture. After an examination and history, it can be determined if Chiropractic care would likely be beneficial for you. Many patients note a relief from pain and less dependency on pain medication with Chiropractic treatment.

Do all chiropractors call themselves chiropractors?

The Kansas Board of Healing Arts requires each licensee to properly identify his or her credentials as opposed to merely referring to themselves as Doctors. Medical Doctors MD, Doctors of Osteopathy DO, Doctors of Chiropractic DC.

What Do you Charge?

We participate with many plans and adhere to fee reimbursements set by them. In these cases the patient makes a co-pay, and for any deductible. Our basic fee for adjustment is $48. A new 2022 law called the No Surprises Act requires that there be up an up front fair estimate of what services will cost and provide that if what is charged exceeds what is expected by more than $400, the patient has the right to protest that amount. This law applies to all providers licensed by a board, but was meant primarily for instances where a non participating provider may provide services in a setting where the patient was under the impression the insurance company would provide coverage. If there is no co-pay, we do require a $30 administrative fee to open a new file, make data entry, and provide support for electronic billing. This is not covered by insurance.
